What is a Fancy Dress Swim to Make Poverty History? We use the playful, fun, spectacle of going in the ocean or other bodies of water in fancy dress(es) to attract attention to ONE: The Campaign to Make Poverty History, launched by Bono of the band U2. We encourage people to sign the ONE Declaration and become involved in holding our government accountable to keep the promises made in the Millennium Development Goals by 191 countries to end extreme poverty, hunger, AIDS, Malaria and other life-threatening diseases. There are specific benchmarks to be met by 2015.
More information is available at www.one.org. While there you can join ONE_SantaMonica, the local chapter of the ONE Campaign, or the local chapter nearest you. Start your own group if there is none near you.
